HOLIDAYS IN LADIS

As you leave Landeck, driving along the Inn towards South Tyrol or Switzerland, the sun might suddenly disappear, even if it's early in the afternoon. The mountains reach great heights here, and their shadows stretch far across the valley. If you lease the busy main road to the west, following the sings to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis , you will soon be pleasantly surprised. Once you have passed the first three serpentines, the sun returns, and the higher you wiggle your way up, the stronger it shines. After the last serpentine  the road peters out on a terrific plateau. The Tyroleans, quite rightly, call it their 'sunny plateau', for here the sun shines more often and more intensive than anywhere else in the country.

Mediaeval times left their mark

The first village you reach driving along the Inn route is Ladis, guarded by the 13 th century castle Laudegg. Influenced by the Rhaeto-Romanic culture, the village is graced with quaint little buildings, many of them adorned with fantastic facade paintings. Ladis has always managed to maintain its rural character, even after a mineral spring was opened up in the 17 th century, turning it into an attractive health resort for various Bavarian aristocrats. To this day, water plays a significant role, e.g. in the Water Theme Trail or the Alpine Wellness offerings, the modern-day health programme. Ladis has something spiritual and meditative about it. Anybody on the quest for peace, authenticity and mountains impressions will feel right at home here.
Those who seek a cosy refuge at the foot of Tyrol's Ski-Dimension with a romantic castle whose lights shine all the way down to the Inn valley, will love Ladis. In the village centre there are still Rhaeto-Romanic houses with fresco ornaments, and everywhere you go you sense the magic of the past without feeling that you have reached the end of the world.

On the contrary: Ladis is partically at the core of the winter sports region. The 'Sonnenbahn' brings you from Ladis to the junction at Fiss, from where the 'Schönjochbahn' and 'Möseralmbahn' cover the entire north of Tyrol's Ski-Dimension.

Every Thursday, on 'Magic Ladis', the village presents the history of the region in enchanting images. Look forward to a special multimedia treat!
