CRASHED PLANE

Plane forced to land in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis

The plane wreck has already induced numerous excited telephone calls to the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis tourist information offices. The callers received a harmless, but nevertheless adventurous explanation: This two-seater, stuck halfway in the ground in the middle of the mountain meadow – almost up to its cockpit –, is part of an adventure story created for children of different age groups by Thomas Brezina, an Austrian television presenter and author of children's and young adult literature. The plane-crash mystery is one of the exciting hiking tours devised for the new "Mountains of Adventure" scheme in the Tyrolean holiday region.

The little scouts are equipped with a special adventure backpack containing useful equipment such as a compass, binoculars and other kit, as well as a newspaper with eye witness reports. Their journey begins in the village Serfaus. The further they progress, the more jettisoned objects they discover.

The story is pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle as the circumstances of the event are elucidated. Suspense is sustained throughout until they return to the tourist information office. Here, they finally learn the whole story and find out whether the pilot was a man or a woman, and what has happened to him or her in the meantime.

"Mountains of Adventure 2008" is an innovative entertainment programme in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, designed to help children see mountains, nature and the environment from a new perspective. It offers three hiking adventures: The Plane-Crash Mystery, The Witch's Trail and The Explorer Route.
