Frommestrail

level of difficulty medium
marking red
trail distance 8700m

When roots, stones, steps and tight corners are no longer a problem, it is time to venture onto more challenging terrain. The “medium difficulty” (red) Frommestrail offers just that. Before the enduro action can begin however, there is a short uphill section to conquer.

First, the Schönjochbahn takes you to the Fisser Joch. From here you still have to cover a good sixty metres in altitude on a gravel road to get to the Schönjochl summit cross, the head of the track. Arriving at an altitude of 2,493 m, this is where the fun begins.

The Frommestrail is over 8.6 km in length. Before the end of the track leads through shaded pine forests, it winds through alpine terrain. The remaining kilometres then take you across lush alpine meadows. The Frommes Alp is where it becomes tricky, since rooty sections change the track’s character here.

From the Frommes Alp you can either continue to follow the track or alternatively take the forest roads. Leaving the track at the end, you return to the Schönjochbahn in Fiss via an alpine path.
