Anyone who thinks that the musical repertoire in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis only revolves around brass band music and DJ Ötzi’s hit “Anton aus Tirol” will be taught a lesson in the last days of July. In 2017, the village of Fiss will prove once again that it is open to all styles of music and that it is a true tonal space not only for brass band instruments, but also for “magic flutes” of all varieties.
In July, silver, wood, gold and platinum flutes will resound and enchant the village into a world full of soulful sounds. The best 30 young flautists from around the world will meet in our mountains in order to get closer to their goal.
Under the guidance of four of the world’s best solo flautists, they will prepare for entry into working life: They will work on new pieces, prepare for competitions (many of the students have won international competitions), refine orchestral solos, learn new techniques, explore baroque ornamentation and train in jazz phrasing. In order to ensure that the fingers and lips do what they should at the right moment, there will also be special breathing and fingering technique training.
For some students, the academy also provides the opportunity to focus intensively on problems for which there is not enough time during their intensely stressful day-to-day studies.
To offset this, we will offer several outdoor activities in which students and their tutors can get to know the beauty of the Tyrolean Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis plateau.
