Schönjöchl via Schadenstock

Starting point: Sägegasse (grid square E2)
Character: This direct ascent from Fiss to the Schönjöchl is a bit steep in the upper section, yet very recommendable with far ranging views over the village and to the Schadenstock.
Walking time: 3 hours

Description: As on trail no. 4 and no. 5, we take the Fisser Almweg trail to the young forest, there we turn left onto a marked forest trail (F020). Now go along this trail to the crossing at the fourth serpentine (F019), then go left and continue over the Obsteinsboden (fine views) to the Gample (F057), the highest point of this roundabout trail. Now go right and continue to the end of the forest trail, where you cross the Fisser Höhensteig trail (F065). Take this trail shortly to the left to a lovely forest clearing (F064) where trail no. 7 turns to the right. Go past the Schadenstock (a huge boulder) and on the ridge up to the weather cross, replete with wonderful views, and to the Schönjöchl 2,493 m (F079). To the cablecar and restaurant on the Fisser Joch (F087) it is only another 15 minutes. You reach the Gample also on trail no.10 (Gample roundabout trail) from the Schönjochbahn valley terminal (F129) via Kuh Alm Fiss (F121) or from the Schönjochbahn midway station (F061).
