Ein weiterer wichtiger Aspekt der Wildhüter-Arbeit ist die Pflege und der Schutz der Lebensräume wild lebender Tiere. Wildhüter beurteilen Schäden an Wildpflanzen oder in der Landwirtschaft durch Tiere wie Rehe, Wildschweine oder Luchse und entwickeln Maßnahmen zur Schadensbegrenzung. Sie führen Statistiken, markieren und überwachen Schutzgebiete und arbeiten eng mit Behörden, Land- und Forstwirtschaft sowie Naturschutzorganisationen und Jägern zusammen, um die natürlichen Lebensräume zu erhalten und zu schützen.

Through these measures, gamekeepers can gather information about the distribution, behavior, and health of wild animals.

Another important aspect of a gamekeeper’s work is caring for and protecting the habitats of wild animals. Gamekeepers assess damage to wild plants or agricultural areas caused by animals such as deer, wild boar, or lynx, and develop measures to minimize such damage. They keep records, mark and monitor protected areas, and work closely with government agencies, agriculture and forestry sectors, as well as conservation organizations and hunters, to maintain and protect natural habitats.
