Laudeck castle
It stands on a mighty rock of crystalline slate.
The castle hill slopes moderately steeply towards the pond (castle pond) and the village of Ladis on the northern and western mountain sides.
The centerpiece is the mighty keep. Attached to this massive residential tower are the chapel and the great hall in the northeast. A ring wall closes off the castle area to the north.
Projecting from the ring wall towards the north is the north tower (residential building). From there, the ring wall continues west to the gate tower with the castle entrance and runs from there further south to the rock face. This creates a forecourt, which is reinforced by a small enceinte north of the keep. In the southeast, the castle is storm-free, while the ring wall and towers protect the access to the castle from the north.
